Parent Expectations
A successful band program needs parent and volunteer support. Our students cannot do this without you!
Timing & Attendance

Your student will need your support to be on time. Make sure alarms are set, and arrange whatever transportation is needed. There are a lot of band students and parents. Consider reaching out to other parents to carpool if you have conflicts that would prevent your student from being where they need to be on time. Consistent attendance not only counts toward student grades, but is the key to student success in Band and Color Guard. We understand that occasional issues might prevent your student from attending an event or practice. Please communicate with the Band Director to ensure that your student does not fall behind.
Most of the band's practice time is after school for approximately 9-10 hours a week. The band attends and plays at most home football games on Friday nights, and there are tournaments several Saturday's September through November. The Fall semester is fast paced and a busy time for the band.

Volunteering

The Band is supported by the Band Boosters. This team of volunteers are the gears that keep the program running successfully, from raising funds to manning ticket booths, keeping kids hydrated, and everything in between. This is a fantastic way to support the students and get involved with the band. We have a couple of home football games that we sell concessions for to help raise funds each year, and several tournaments that need roadies, chaperones, concession workers, ticket sellers, crowd control, and much more. Even if you can volunteer for just a few hours, we would love to have your help. Please be on the look out for information on how to volunteer and sign-ups throughout the year. Our home tournament is a major event, and volunteers are needed!

Home Tournament

Our home tournament is a major event every year and often the last tournament many bands will attend. This is an all day event. We will need volunteers for ticket sales and gate check, parking attendants, concessions, setting up and tearing down, VIP areas, and more.

Fair Share Contributions and Fundraising

Each student will have an account for Band. You can expect this to be between $500-$700 every year. While it is important that it is paid as early as possible - it is never too late to make those payments. This contribution helps cover entry fees, transportation, uniform services and much more that district funding or grants does not cover. There are scholarship opportunities to help with this expense. Students will be encouraged to ask family and friends to donate to their account. You can get a head start in the summer, and make monthly payments through the link at the top of our site.

Other Fundraising

The RBV Band Boosters raise funds year round through many channels including corporate sponsorship, concert tickets, spirit wear and concession sales, and other fundraisers that may be led by students or come in the form of gift cards sales, dine out nights and more. By spreading the word, parents can help get keep sponsorship and donation numbers up - allowing us to have a well funded and successful Band program. These funds help cover things like props, additional coaching, and help offset the cost to individual students. The more successful fundraising efforts are, the more the band can do! Additional events like parades and trips are something we strive to include in the program.
